The First Reading Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7
These are the words of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the remaining elders among the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

Psalm 66: 1-11 (Anglican Chant, sung by the choir)
1 Be joyful in God, all you lands;
sing the glory of his Name;
sing the glory of his praise.2 Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds!
because of your great strength your enemies cringe before you.3 All the earth bows down before you,
sings to you, sings out your Name."4 Come now and see the works of God,
how wonderful he is in his doing toward all people.5 He turned the sea into dry land,
so that they went through the water on foot,
and there we rejoiced in him.6 In his might he rules for ever;
his eyes keep watch over the nations;
let no rebel rise up against him.7 Bless our God, you peoples;
make the voice of his praise to be heard;8 Who holds our souls in life,
and will not allow our feet to slip.9 For you, O God, have proved us;
you have tried us just as silver is tried.10 You brought us into the snare;
you laid heavy burdens upon our backs.11 You let enemies ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water;
but you brought us out into a place of refreshment.
The Second Reading 2 Timothy 2:8-15
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David-- that is my gospel, for which I suffer hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. The saying is sure:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he will also deny us;
if we are faithless, he remains faithful--
for he cannot deny himself.
Remind them of this, and warn them before God that they are to avoid wrangling over words, which does no good but only ruins those who are listening. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.

Sequence Hymn #483: The head that once was crowned St. Magnus
The Holy Gospel Luke 17: 11-19
Celebrant: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Luke.
People: Glory to you, Lord Christ
On the way to Jerusalem Jesus was going through the region between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten lepers approached him. Keeping their distance, they called out, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" When he saw them, he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were made clean. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus asked, "Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they? Was none of them found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well."Celebrant: The Gospel of the Lord. People: Praise to you, Lord Christ.
The Sermon The Rev. Sarah Wood
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The Prayers of the People
With all our heart and with all our mind, let us pray to the Lord, saying: “Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.”
For the Church and for all of us who are fed with the bread of life. We ask that we may always be signs of God’s love to all who work for justice and peace. Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of the resurrection. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For this parish family, that we may be renewed in mind and spirit. May we become new persons of love and service in Christ. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For an openness to the gifts of God, that we who are clothed in the likeness of God may live lives worthy of our calling. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For peace in the Middle East, Ukraine and other places of war and violence, that those whose lives are threatened daily may be sustained and strengthened by God’s helping hand. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For the Earth: Grant us wisdom and reverence so to use the resources of nature, that generations yet to come may continue to praise you for your bounty. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For the sick, for the suffering and for those who mourn: grant them comfort and relief; patience under their sufferings; and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. We ask you to look with compassion on the whole human family. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For all whose lives are closely linked with ours. We especially pray for those on our prayer list: Theresa, Alec, Karrson, Doris, Jennie, Wilhelmina, Nino, Bing, Christina Suela, Lorena, Eva, Eugene, Christina Hing, Althea, Andy, Paul, Patrick, Michael; and also the victims of war, gun violence, and natural disasters. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
For those who have died, (silence) that they may continue to feast on the bread of heaven that endures for eternal life. Lord in your mercy…
Hear our prayer.
Lifting our voices with all creation, with Mary the God-bearer, and all the saints who have borne witness to Christ, let us offer ourselves and one another to the living God through Christ.
To you, O God, we give glory and praise.
The celebrant adds a concluding collect.
The Confession and Absolution
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
Celebrant: Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.

Sanctus Powell HYMNAL #S-129
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Eucharistic Prayer: The people stand or kneel.
Celebrant: We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your
Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.
On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me."
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me."
Therefore, according to his command, O Father,
Celebrant & People: We remember his death.
We proclaim his resurrection.
We await his coming in glory.
Celebrant: And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine.
We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation.
By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. AMEN.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
Fraction Anthem: Agnus Dei Powell HYMNAL #S-163
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
grant us peace.
Communion Verse Tone I
Promise unto the Lord and keep it: all yea that are round
about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
He shall refrain the spirit of the princes: and is wonderful
among the kings of the earth.
Communion Anthem Henry Purcell (1659-1695)
Since God so tender a regard to all my poor requests did give,
my best affections he shall have and best devotions whilst I live.
Assailed with grief and pain that seemed the sad forerunners
of the grave, to thee I make my request, O Lord: my life from
threatening danger save. Nor did I cry to God in vain, nor did
his mercy come too late; but when I still was at a loss, His
kindness raised my low estate. God and thyself my soul enjoy
in quiet rest freed from thy fears who saved life, upheld thy
steps and dried up my falling tears. The solemn payment of
the vows I made to God shall be my care, who saved me from
approaching dearth and showed my life to him was dear. By
all engagements Lord I'm thine, thy servant whom thou hast
set free, the very bonds which thou hast loosed shall tie me
faster unto thee.
Communion of the People
The Post-Communion Prayer (stand or kneel)
Eternal God, heavenly Father,
you have graciously accepted us as living members
of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ,
and you have fed us with spiritual food
in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood.
Send us now into the world in peace,
and grant us strength and courage
to love and serve you
with gladness and singleness of heart;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
